Our client has an established position as a market leader in the international Oil & Gas Sector, which is serviced by their Aberdeen operation.

Key Responsibilities & Personal Attributes

Due to continued strong growth, they are looking to appoint a Lead Naval Architect to join their team in Aberdeen.

Reporting to the Floating Structures Team Leader within their Structures and Pipelines Engineering Group, the main responsibilities are as follows:

• Lead technical delivery teams and undertake analysis of floating offshore structures
• Verify design compliance of floating structures against relevant codes, standards and regulations, including Classification Rules.
• Provide support services to assist Builders, Designers, Owners and colleagues in the interpretation and application of the relevant rules and regulations.

Job Requirements

The successful applicant will be a Chartered Naval Architect holding at least an upper second class honours degree in Naval Architecture and have a proven track record of relevant experience:

• Structural analysis of floating structures
• Design appraisal of floating structures including oil tanker hull structures
• Knowledge of classification rules, SOLAS, MODU codes and national authority requirements

You will also need good communication skills, including technical report writing; the ability to work to tight deadlines and adaptability. There may also be a requirement for the engineer filling this position to work in client or designers' offices for temporary periods.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience.

• Degree Qualified Engineer (or equivalent)
• Relevant Industry knowledge gained in a recognised engineering environment
• Analytical, good attention to detail
• Flexible and adaptable individual
• Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Access
