My client, a nuclear organization based in Berkshire is seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Engineer.
Profile: To manage and update the electrical safety system processes and procedures. Provide assurance that operational technical competence is employed across the existing facilities, this will include site and facility electrical distribution infrastructure and specialist research facilities
Salary Range: c.45,000 - 60,000 dependent on experience + 27% Final salary pension
Key accountabilities • Management and updating of Electrical policy, procedures and instructions and where necessary present and gain approval from the Electrical Safety Authority for changes • Lead the implementation of changes to policy, processes, procedures and instructions • Assess personnel for competency within the workplace • Educate personnel on current legislative and corporate mandatory requirements • In concert with Senior Authorised Persons (Electrical), develop documentation and procedures Responsibilities • Define levels of competency (KATE, Knowledge Ability Training Experience) for all electrical safety appointments (includes 11kV, LV distribution, hazardous areas, EMC and radio frequency) • Draft, review and implement electrical/electronic safety documentation and procedures - particularly those with electrical distribution infrastructure and specialist research • Identify training requirements to maintain electrical safety competency at all levels of the Company • Review identification and selection procedures, for electrical apparatus and systems • Investigate and review incidents/accidents, analyse trends and initiate corrective action • Establish monitoring and review process for suppliers' electrical safety • Audit implementation of policies procedures, initiate corrective actions • Represent at seminars, conferences and in electrical diversification activities • Audit electrical installations, procedures and compliance with the Company Safety Procedure of Electrical Safety Code Qualifications • Minimum of a degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification) • Chartered Electrical Engineer (distribution or power systems is preferred) • Safety professional qualifications eg NEBOSH is preferred (or demonstrable experience in lieu) Knowledge • Health and Safety Law with emphasis on Electrical Statutes, Guidance, EEC Directives • Safety Professional knowledge • BS7671 • How to conduct a risk assessment and identify corrective actions • Workplace Awareness: o Electrical/Electronic Technical Knowledge, design, commissioning, repair
