With nearly 50 years of experience working on behalf of its clients, for the most part international and national oil companies; our client executes infrastructure projects that are increasingly ambitious, complex and demanding: ultra-deep waters, extreme climates, mega-sized projects, non-conventional resources and optimization of environmental performance. As a result of strong growth they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Marine Operations Engineer. This opportunity will be well suited to an individual with a specialism in subsea lifting. Ideally it will suit a Structural Engineer or Naval Architect with an operational background.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Marine Operations Engineer you will be responsible for the provision of marine lifting/installations engineering support for offshore construction, diving, marine, pipelay operations. The successful applicant will also act as the Technical Authority for marine operations engineering and lifting/deployment operations.

Your duties and responsibilities as Senior Marine Operations Engineer will also encompass the following:

• Provision of construction and lifting engineering support on offshore construction and decommissioning projects
• Project risk assessment and management
• Scheduling assistance
• Maintenance of best practice lessons learnt and procedures
• Liaison and provision of support to other departments
• Offshore vessel visits and mobilisation attendance
• Supervision of Lifting Engineers
• Technical review of projects and tenders
• Operational installation engineering
• Support Capex justification
• Review and approval of lifting analyses
• Control and update of crane curves
• Interface with crane manufacturers
• Input in wire rope policy
• Technip representation on industry committees
• Incident investigations
• Provision of operational engineering support to capital projects
• Vessel Assurance support - hull structures, lifting devices, vessel class issues, pipelay equipment, diving systems
• Support to the Research and Development (R&D) programme
• Design input to vessel assets
• Third party vessel audits, suitability assessments
• Knowledge management, lessons learned and best practice for new builds and conversions

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
• Experienced in the use of engineering analysis tools
• Relevant engineering degree
• UKOOA (Offshore Operators Association) offshore medical or equivalent

Preferred:
• RGIT offshore training or equivalent
• Membership of RINA or IMarEST

EXPERIENCE

Essential Experience/Skill/Knowledge:
• More than 5 years experience in offshore/subsea construction industry
• Supervisory experience with a solutions based attitude
• Engineering for offshore lifting and construction operations including heavy lifts
• Engineering modelling tools e.g. Orcaflex
• General Information Technology (IT) skills
• Competent in using Class Rules and Guidelines

Preferred Experience/Skill/Knowledge:

• More than 10 years experience in offshore/subsea construction industry - Particular involvement in heavy lift engineering
