My Client, a world renowned Nuclear Establishment is seeking a Chemical Analyst on permanent basis for their offices based in Berkshire.

Salary Range
£20,000 - 26,000 dependent on experience

Profile:
Perform chemical analysis and physical testing in support of the programmes, environmental monitoring, waste management, occupational hygiene activities and ad-hoc sample analyses. Act as a Process Owner under the Analytical Sciences (ASc) quality system

Key accountabilities
• Carry out chemical analysis using a range of instrumental and classical techniques on a variety of samples
• Work in accordance with company Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (SQESH) policies
• Assist in the development of new and modified analytical methods as required and prepare related technical reports
• Ensure analytical instrumentation is maintained
• To undergo training to improve technical capabilities and knowledge
Responsibilities
• To deliver the Chemical Sciences programmes to schedule whilst maintaining and improving the quality of the results
• To ensure that, where possible, all sample completion dates are achieved
• To assist the Chemical Sciences quality champion and to comply with the terms of reference for that role
• Act as Risk and COSHH assessor, as required
• To support and promote change initiatives within Analytical Sciences group
• To support procurement within the spend plans for the area
• To support implementation of the company quality manuals
• To support the provision of measurement services to meet the ISO 17025 standard
• To support team building
• To safeguard Company information and assets in my care from unauthorised access or disclosure, report security breaches and apply security at all times
• To communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
• To understand and apply responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
• To act as process owner, as required, and defined in the ASc Quality manual

Qualifications
• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related subject or HNC or equivalent in chemistry or related discipline, or working towards such a qualification
Knowledge
• Good general knowledge of chemistry
• Good understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of analytical chemistry techniques
• Good general knowledge of chemical safety
• Knowledge of the COSHH regulations
• Relevant experience working in an analytical laboratory
• Working to ISO 17025 (preferred)
