Our client is a leading engineering and safety consultancy providing project design and asset integrity management services and health, safety and risk management capabilities to the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries. They are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Engineer to work on a contract basis for around 9 months. The position in to be based in Slough in Berkshire.
Scope of role

Responsible for all quality aspects of assigned projects. Responsibilities include quality, inspection and test planning, audit planning and auditing, process improvements, non-conformance analysis, quality reporting and lessons learned management.

The key aspects of the role are:

• Preparing and obtaining approval of project quality plans and inspection and test plans
• Monitoring and reporting against the project quality system and performing internal audits.
• Representing Quality/HSEQ through the project life cycle. Interfacing with clients, contractors, certifying authorities, third parties and internal departments on all quality matters.
• Reviewing contractor quality plans, inspection and test plans and identifying inspection points
• Coordination of QA/QC activities and ensuring close liaison with Package Managers, H&S Manager and contractors' project engineers and QA/QC personnel
• Auditing contractor quality control processes and quality management systems
• Carrying out site inspections and coordinating appropriate inspection resources
• Reviewing inspection and test reports
• Reviewing and maintaining project quality records
• Reporting on quality performance and preparing weekly and monthly reports
• Maintaining non-conformity reports and design change request databases
• Investigating and reporting on quality problems
• Monitoring QA/QC budgets

Skills & qualifications

Required Experience:

• HSEQ / Quality systems
• ISO series of standards
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a quality control, quality assurance or quality engineering environment
• Engineering product technical knowledge (offshore, structural, marine, civil engineering)
• Project Engineer or HSEQ/Quality Engineer management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Professional Engineering qualification.
• Lead Quality Auditor or Audit qualification
• Associate or Member of the Chartered Quality Institute

Our client in NOT looking for a traditional QA/QC Engineer, although this will involve being on-site when required this position is strongly biased towards maintaining and auditing their and their contractors Project Quality Management Systems.
