My client was established on January 26, 2007 as a joint venture between two Vietnam-based companies and one European based business. They are currently in the process of constructing a large-scale, modern container terminal facility that, once operational in late 2010, will be able to cater to large main line container vessels. The terminal which will be located strategically in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, some 80KMs from Ho Chi Minh City, will offer its customer's state-of-the-art container handling and IT equipment. Providing a safe, secure and efficient cargo and vessel operation is of utmost importance as this will enable local importers and exporters efficient and reliable connectivity with the global markets. The 600 meters of berth will be equipped with 6 super post-Panamax gantry cranes which together with the RTG-based yard operation will allow for an annual handling capacity of over 1.1 million TEUs. Commercial Manager As part of its organizational build-up they are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to support the development and successful opening of its Container Terminal.
Tasks: With reference to the General Director and based in Tan Thanh district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province the Commercial Manager will be responsible for all commercial activities in the Company. The area of responsibility will cover all commercial activities, including marketing and PR. Among others the tasks include development and implementation of sales & marketing strategy, including budgets and non-financial targets, being the key responsible for attracting customers and ensuring a highly professional relationship to the various decisions makers within the customers' organization. My client will have few but large volume clients, and it is essential to build strong long-standing relationships with the customers and monitor and professionally handle all customer contacts. The Commercial Manager will be leading all commercial activities with the assistance of a marketing assistant. In other words professionally a challenging and out-turned position that requires excellent people skills, professional focus and the ability to follow through. Therefore seeks: A business oriented, outgoing and commercial minded person with assertiveness, sense of responsibility and people skills. The candidate must be qualified, decisive, result orientated as well as able to work well within a team. It is crucial that the candidate has proven commercial experience and is able to carry out the commercial strategy and activities independently and essentially secure volume for a profitable terminal.
The ideal candidate has: • At least 5 years experience from a similar position in industry, port or liner • Proven commercial background • Experienced with marketing/PR • Excellent people skills • Communicates fluently in English, both verbally and in writing; speaking Vietnamese is preferred. • Experience with Company up-starts; preferably from maritime or other relevant industry • Understands cultural diversity and Asian values The Commercial Manager will learn to facilitate business understanding & the role of customer relations in a strategic business environment.
