Job Description:

Our client is established as one of the largest contractors in the world with a turnover in excess of $2 Billion. They employ around 200,000 people with projects all over the Middle East, West Africa and Russia.

Their main engineering and construction focus consists of the following types of projects:
• Heavy Civil Construction: power plants, bridges and highway interchanges, harbor and docks, and civil work for process plants and the petrochemical industry.
• Highways, roads and airports.
• Water and Sewage treatment plants, pumping stations and all related networks.
• Mechanical Construction: fabrication and installation of piping, erection of equipment and vessels, structural steel works for light industry and heavy mechanical works (refineries, petrochemical plants, gas oil separation plants, oil loading and off loading terminals).
• Pipelines for water, gas and oil.
• High Quality Buildings.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Plans and supervises the major functions of the construction which include the responsibility for the planning and co-ordination of all manpower and equipment, materials supplies, and sub-contracted services, towards the proper completion of the work on schedule with approved drawings, specifications, cost and quality limitations.

* Monitors Sub-contractors at each stage of the work to ensure proper compliance with all technical aspects of the contract through both individual contacts and co-ordination meetings.

* Directs and supervises his project engineers in the performance of all aspects of their work.

* Exercises strict control over costs of construction particularly the use of labor, materials and equipment. This includes reviewing variances from budgeted expenditure and recommends/initiates action to bring them under control.

* Discusses and resolves daily site problems with site supervisors.

* Monitors construction progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provides input to the regular reports of the Project Manager.

Makes forward plans in his section of the project for the release of equipment and personnel employed.

Required Skills

Over 10-years, documented experience in a variety of major international Petrochemical projects involving in-depth knowledge of a multi - discipline environment.

Required Qualifications

An Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering and or a recognized professional qualification.
