Job Description:

Our client is one of the global market leaders in the field of testing, researching and the continual improvement of safety-relevant factors. For about 140 years our client has been offering its services to the shipping industry and setting standards in technology, safety and quality.

Due to experiencing strong growth and new business streams they are looking to appoint an experienced HSE Manager to act as the Client Representative to lead and advise on Health and Safety regulations and issues, in order to assure compliance with the project's HSE policy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Encouraging and promoting safety awareness throughout the company's operations both on and offshore, including operations at remote locations
Rendering advice, guidance and information concerning safety, health and environmental issues, existing and proposed legislation, codes of practice, industry standards etc., as well as procedures and organisation necessary to comply with them
Conducting risk assessments, development HS&E plans and other relevant documentation
Developing and maintaining systems and procedures to identify and improve the company's HS&E performance
In co-operation with other departments, ensure that sufficient training and instruction in HS&E matters is provided so that members of the workforce and contractors understand the requirement to work safely in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Liaison with external bodies such as enforcing authorities, legislative agencies, industry organisation, standard authorities etc., so that the Company is informed and can plan for change
Carrying out internal and external safety audits of worksites and any subcontractor activities
Participating in HS&E investigation and reporting, together with providing recommendations and corrective actions where required
Providing support to ensure that non-conformances, defects and deficiencies relating to HSE matters are reported, and that corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence.
Auditing the CDM process.

Required Qualifications

The successful applicant will be educated to degree (or equivalent) level and will also hold further relevant post-graduate qualifications specifically in the HSE field. An MSc would be an advantage.

Ideally our client is looking for an individual with extensive HSE experience, specifically with CDM experience, in a highly regulated or hazardous environment.
