Our client provides life-of-asset services to their clients, from initial design, through to project delivery and long-term asset support servicing the oil and gas, nuclear, transport and power sectors.  With offices across the globe, they are considered to be among the world's leaders in their field.

Due to ongoing growth and expansion, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior SSHE Manager to join their prestigious EPCM Division to provide strategic and functional leadership to the Project Director and Leadership Team on a large multi-million Oil Sands EPCM contract with a Joint Venture agreement.

As senior SSHE Manager you will be expected to provide leadership for the project SSHE team (including contractors) in order to provide stewardship and assurance across the entire project scope with regards to security, safety, health and the environment.  

Reporting directly to the Project Director your duties and responsibilities will be as follows.

Leadership:

  • Provide support, guidance and challenge to the Project Director and the project leadership team
  • Lead the SSHE team to deliver the inputs that will allow the project to meet its SSHE and Risk Management strategic objectives

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, guidance and best practice
  • Build a culture of personal accountability where safe behaviours are reinforced, and at-risk behaviours are challenged
  • Ensure that all project participants are provided with the tools and knowledge to allow them to work within the safe operating envelope of legislation, procedures and competence

Security and Emergency:

  • Ensure that the levels of security and emergency readiness are established, maintained and tested for a large construction site, off-site 2500 person camp and interfaces with an adjacent Brownfield plant.

People and Culture:

  • Implement a competency management and training programme that will ensure that sufficient competent personnel are in place to deliver the SSHE commitments
  • Implement and establish a safety behavioural programme for all personnel and line management to foster a positive and leading site wide safety culture

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Manage the interfaces between the SSHE personnel and client SSHE personnel and the two parent Joint Venture Companies
  • Where necessary act upon the feedback from the customer satisfaction measurement process

Project Execution:

  • Ensure compliance with the Project Plans for Security, Safety, Health and Environment
  • Develop and establish a project assurance strategy focusing of safety leadership, risk based auditing, risk assessment and effective management of sub-contractors
  • Implement a monitoring process to measure effectiveness of risk management, and initiate process improvement for all activities and sub-contractors

Commercial:

  • Ensure that SHE activities are executed in line with commercial objectives

Taking the Business Forward:

  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of closely aligned working between the SSHE and Technical Safety teams, based upon shared goals and understanding and effective communications
